Inspired by the core value of the emergence of Bangladesh, a group of dedicated
social workers with their sincere initiative and drive established MAMATA in the year
1983 with a “vision of Health Hazard Free Poverty Alleviated Bangladesh upholding
Basic Human Rights.” Throughout it’s sustained Journey of long 3 decades to achieve
it’s vision MAMATA has implemented multisectoral and multidimensional program and
projects focusing Health, Population and Nutrition, Poverty alleviation through
Microfinance, Right based activities including Women Rights and Gender, Women
workers rights and empowerment, ECCD and Schooling for improvement of lives and
livelihoods of disadvantaged segment of population in the Chittagong City and 7
Upazillas of Chittagong covering 2 million population with outstanding success
acclaimed by the experts both in home and abroad. Mamata received National
Population Award for 8 times including in the year 2013 for it’s outstanding
performance in the field of Health and Population sector. MAMATA also received
Certificates of Merit and awards from different authorities for it’s brilliant achievements
in implementing 14 different program/ projects with in the purview of it’s Vision and
The achievements of MAMATA in the year 2013 has been embodied in this Annual
Report with compilation and consolidation of all relevant data/information related to our
activities under different projects/programs. MAMATA has been able to attain almost all
of it’s projected/targets in the year 2013 although we had to overcome many
bottlenecks, specially the political unrest during last quarter of the year.
I would like to take the privilege to congratulate the MAMATA Management and
Officers and Staff of MAMATA for their relentless and devoted efforts to establish
MAMATA on a sound foundation to achieve it’s goals and objectives. Similarly I would
like to express my sincere felicitations and gratitude’s to the elected representatives,
concerned Government and Autonomous bodies, Donors/Development Partners,
Professionals, Experts, members of the civil society and personalities from Print and
Electronic media to support MAMATA in it’s sustained journey for long 3 decades in the
development arena of Bangladesh.
MAMATA has earned a “Brand value” in the service delivery focusing reproductive
health in the poor people and has so far conducted 48 thousand deliveries (cesarean
section and normal vaginal delivery) in it’s Maternity Centre which is the highest
performance among all the NGOs. The success of MAMATA in attainment of goals and
objective by establishing activities of it’s programs/projects under sound footing is a
glory for the Mamata Management and matter of pride and rejoice for the personnel of
all tires of MAMATA who all together are working with a Missionary Zeal to make
MAMATA a total success in the years to come.
